Literature Text

I lost your words before I learned
About the darkness.
Never thinking twice of
What would become of
All the poems written down.
So, the verse died.
Confidence in the old ways misled me
Into thinking I could get them back again.
But swift-footed time had already
Played its ace, drawing no lines.
If you could see my sadness now,
You would have scorched her with your sun
Years ago, and lived beyond complacency.
